Getting Paid: Payout Timing & Schedule
Card payments you take through Membrzs — whether by Tap to Pay on iPhone, a Stripe M2 reader, or manual card entry — are deposited straight to your bank account by Stripe. This guide covers when that money arrives and how to change how often you're paid.
New to Membrzs? You'll need a vendor account with Stripe connected before any payouts can happen. Start with Creating Your Vendor Account & Linking Stripe Connect.
1. How Payouts Work
Membrzs uses Stripe Express. When a card sale is captured, the funds land in your Stripe balance, and Stripe pays that balance out to the bank account you connected during setup. Membrzs never holds or forwards your money separately.
- All card capture methods pay out the same way. Tap to Pay, M2 reader, and manual card entry all feed the same Stripe balance — the payout schedule doesn't care how the card was read.
- Cash sales are not part of payouts. Cash you collect in person stays in your drawer; Stripe never deposits it. See Recording Cash Payments.
- Fees come out before payout. Your processing rate (and, where it applies, the itemized Tap to Pay fee) is deducted before the balance is paid out — see Understanding Card & Platform Fee Breakdowns.
2. When the Money Arrives
Stripe controls payout timing, not Membrzs. For a new U.S. account on the standard schedule:
- Your first payout typically arrives 7–14 days after your first successful charge, while Stripe finishes verifying your account.
- After that, funds from a card sale generally reach your bank about 2 business days after the sale settles, paid out on a daily automatic schedule.
- Weekends and bank holidays push arrival to the next business day.
You can watch your current balance and the next expected payout in the Stripe Express dashboard (Section 3).
3. Changing How Often You're Paid
Set your payout frequency directly in Membrzs — Owners and Managers only:
- Mobile: Config > Payment Setup > Payout Schedule.
- Web Portal: the Payouts page.
Choose Daily, Weekly (pick a weekday), or Monthly (pick a day of the month, or "Last day"). Changes apply to future payouts; money already in transit keeps its original timing. Stripe enforces a minimum settlement delay, so funds still land a couple of business days after a sale regardless of frequency.
Your bank account, balance, and tax details are still managed in the Stripe Express dashboard — from Payment Setup, tap Open Stripe Dashboard →. See Managing Direct Payouts & Stripe Express Dashboard.
Frequently Asked Questions
I've made sales but haven't been paid — why?
The most common reasons are the first-payout verification hold (see section 2), an incomplete or incorrect bank account, or Stripe needing more information about your business. On the Payment Setup screen, tap Update Account Details to reopen Stripe's form and resolve any outstanding requests.
Can I get paid instantly?
Only if Stripe has enabled Instant Payouts for your account. When you're eligible, the option appears in the Stripe Express dashboard; it carries an additional Stripe fee and requires a supported debit card.
Does changing my schedule affect money already on the way?
No. Payouts that have already been initiated continue on their original timing; the new schedule applies to your balance going forward.
Where do refunds come from?
Refunds are drawn from your Stripe balance and reduce your next payout. If your balance is too low, Stripe debits the connected bank account. See Processing Full Voids & Refunds.
Can I manage payouts from the Web Portal?
Yes — the Payouts page in the Web Portal lets Owners and Managers set the payout schedule and open the Stripe dashboard, the same as Config > Payment Setup on mobile.
