Running End-of-Market Session Sales
Membrzs Market doesn't have a one-tap "clearance sale" mode scoped to a single session — here's what actually works at the register when you want to move remaining inventory before you pack up.
1. What's Actually Available at the Register
There's no session-scoped or "instant markdown" feature that discounts a whole category of products for the rest of the day. The register-level tools for moving end-of-day stock are the same discount and comp mechanisms used for any other reason — they just happen to be instant and per-sale, which makes them a practical fit for last-hour markdowns:
- Discount a single cart line — long-press the line in the cart, choose Discount This Item, pick % off or $ off, and enter a reason (e.g. "End of day markdown").
- Comp a single item — long-press the line and choose Comp This Item to give it away free, with a required reason.
- Discount the whole order — tap + Add Discount at the bottom of the cart to take a percentage or dollar amount off the entire sale.
Full steps for all three, including the manager-approval cap, are covered in the discounts, sales & comps article — the mechanism is identical whether you're using it for a damaged item or for clearing out the last of today's produce.
2. Marking Items Down for Everyone, Not Just This Cart
If you want a lower price to apply automatically to every sale of a product — not just the ones you remember to discount by hand — that's the Sale items feature instead. It's set up in the Web Portal per product, is vendor-wide and time-bound (it can span multiple market days), and isn't tied to opening or closing a specific session. See the discounts, sales & comps article's "Putting Products on Sale" section for setup steps. It's the right tool if you're planning end-of-day markdowns ahead of time; the cart-level discount/comp tools above are the right tool for an in-the-moment decision at the register.
3. Marking Items Sold Out Instead
If your goal is simply to stop selling something rather than discount it — for example, you've genuinely run out — long-press its tile in the product grid and choose Mark as Sold Out. This only affects the current session's register view and doesn't touch pricing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a way to discount every remaining product at once?
Not automatically. Each line or the whole order can be discounted individually via the cart tools above; there's no bulk "apply X% off to everything currently unsold" action.
Does a cart discount at the register affect the Sale items feature?
No — they're independent. A cart-level discount or comp only affects that one order; it doesn't create or modify a product's Sale price in the Portal.
