Reading Real-Time Hot/Cold Item Indicators
While a session is open, product tiles can show a small badge flagging an item as a standout seller or a slow mover — a quick visual cue for restocking or repositioning your booth.
1. What the Badges Mean
These badges are purely visual — based on this session's sales so far — and don't change pricing or availability:
- 🔥 Hot — shown on the single product that currently has the most units sold this session, but only once it has sold at least 3 units and isn't tied with the next-highest product. If two products are tied for the top spot, neither gets the badge.
- ❄️ Cold — shown on any product that has sold zero units this session, once the session has been open at least 30 minutes and the session as a whole has sold at least 5 units total. This avoids flagging everything as "cold" in the first few minutes before sales have had a chance to happen.
A badge appears as a small circular icon in the top-right corner of the product's tile (grid view) or row (list view). Sold-out products never show a hot/cold badge.
2. Requirements
Hot/cold badges require an open session with inventory tracked — they're computed from that session's per-product sales counts, so they only apply while sessions are enabled for your vendor and a session is currently open. They update automatically as sales come in and re-check roughly once a minute so the 30-minute cold threshold kicks in without needing a new sale to trigger it.
3. Using Them at the Booth
- A 🔥 badge is a signal to make sure that product is well-stocked and visible — it's outselling everything else right now.
- A ❄️ badge is a signal to consider repositioning that product, calling it out to customers, or checking whether it needs a markdown (see the end-of-market sales article for how to discount an item at the register).
Frequently Asked Questions
Can more than one product be Hot at the same time?
No — at most one product shows the 🔥 badge per session, and only when it has a clear, untied lead. Multiple products can show ❄️ at the same time.
Do hot/cold badges affect checkout or inventory in any way?
No — they're a read-only overlay on the product grid/list. They never affect availability, pricing, or the checkout flow.
