Navigating the POS Screen & Cart Controls

The POS screen is where you browse products, build a cart, and take payment — here's how its layout and controls work.

1. The Product Grid & List

  1. Open the app to the register (POS) screen. Once a session is open (if your vendor uses sessions), the top of the screen shows Products with a view-mode toggle in the corner.
  2. Tap the grid icon (⊞) for a tile view — products display as tiles in a 3-column grid, each showing the item's emoji, name, and price.
  3. Tap the list icon (☰) for a single-column list view instead — same products, one per row, with the price right-aligned. Your choice is remembered for next time.
  4. Use the Search products… field above the grid/list to filter by product name or barcode as you type.
  5. Products on an active sale show a red SALE badge with the original price struck through above the sale price. Products with a bundle price (e.g. "3 for $5.00") show that instead of a barcode, when no sale is active. Sold-out products are dimmed and labeled Sold Out.

2. Adding Items to the Cart

  1. Tap any product tile or row to add one unit to the cart. Tapping the same product again adds another.
  2. For weight-priced products, tapping opens a weight-entry prompt instead of adding immediately — see the weight-priced checkout article.
  3. Tap ▦ Scan in the header to add items by scanning a barcode — see the barcode scanner article — or 🏷️ Custom to add a one-off item that isn't in your catalog.
  4. Long-pressing a product tile (instead of tapping) opens session-only options: Mark as Sold Out / Clear Sold Out, or Disable for This Session — these only affect the current session's register view, not your master catalog.

3. The Cart

  1. As soon as you add an item, a collapsed cart bar appears at the bottom of the screen showing the item count and running total.
  2. Tap the cart bar to expand it into a full-screen cart view. Tap the ‹ button in the top-left to collapse it back to browsing.
  3. The cart auto-scrolls to show the most recently added item whenever your cart changes — see the cart editing article for more on this and the quantity steppers.
  4. Tap Clear in the cart header to remove every item, with a confirmation prompt.

4. Checkout Actions

At the bottom of the expanded cart:

  1. + Add Discount applies a whole-order discount, and + Add Tip (if tips are enabled) prompts for a tip. See the discounts article and the tip prompts article for details.
  2. The Total reflects tax, any discount, and any tip.
  3. Tap Charge Card to charge your connected card reader (Lite and up — Freemium opens manual card entry instead) — this button shows the Tap to Pay label instead when that's your active connection method — Cash to take a cash payment, or Other… for split tender or manual card entry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change how many columns the product grid shows?

No — grid view is a fixed 3 columns. Switch to list view (☰) if you'd rather see products one per row with more detail.
