Understanding the Market Session Model
Membrzs Market organizes selling into a "session" — one continuous stretch at one event — rather than a generic storefront's calendar-day totals.
1. Why Sessions, Not Daily Totals
Market and pop-up vendors don't sell continuously the way an online storefront does. You might work two different markets in a single day, or not sell at all on other days, and each time you show up you're counting a cash float in and counting it back out. A calendar-day total has no natural start or end point for any of that. A session does: it begins when you count your opening cash and ends when you count your closing cash, so every number inside it belongs to one specific event.
2. What a Session Actually Groups Together
Opening a session (+ Open New Session → the Open Session form) ties several things together for the rest of the event:
- Sales — every order rung up while the session is open is attributed to it, feeding the running totals in the session menu (···) and the emailed session report.
- Cash — the Opening Cash ($) float you count in, plus any mid-session 💸 Cash Pull / 💰 Cash Drop adjustments, are tracked against that session so closing can reconcile actual cash to expected cash.
- Inventory — quantities entered under "Inventory Brought" (for tracked-inventory products) or toggled on under "Services & Unlimited Items" become that session's available stock; sales decrement from it.
- Team attribution — in Per Seller cash drawer mode, each seller's own sales and drawer are still tracked underneath the same session, and can be closed individually via Close My Drawer.
3. The Session Lifecycle
- Open — fill out event/location, Cash Drawer Mode, opening cash, and an optional revenue goal, then tap Open.
- Sell — ring up sales; the ··· session menu shows live card/cash/total figures and, on Team or Enterprise plans, a session leaderboard.
- Adjust — record a Cash Pull or Cash Drop any time the physical drawer changes outside of a sale.
- Close — Close Session (or Close My Drawer) counts the drawer, shows a reconciliation breakdown, and optionally emails a summary.
Keeping everything scoped to the session is what makes each market day its own clean, reconcilable record instead of one blended running total.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have more than one session open at once? Yes — if another session is already open, opening a new one requires naming it so you can tell the sessions apart afterward.
Does closing a session erase unsold inventory? No. Unsold stock stays in your product catalog; only that session's brought quantities and sales are finalized when it closes.
