How Offline Mode & Automatic Queue Sync Work
Learn how Membrzs Market keeps taking cash sales without an internet connection, and how those sales sync once you're back online.
1. What Works Offline
Cash sales on the Register tab work with no internet connection — they're queued on your device and synced automatically once you reconnect. This includes discounts, comps, tips, and PIN approvals applied to a cash sale.
Card payments and the Reader and Config tabs require a live connection, since they depend on real-time data (product/team/tax management, card reader discovery) with no offline fallback. Both tabs dim and block navigation while your device can't reach Membrzs's local server, with a prompt explaining a connection is needed.
2. How Cash Sales Are Queued
When you complete a cash sale while offline, the app:
- Saves the full order (items, totals, discount/comp, tip, and any PIN approval token) to a local queue on your device.
- Marks the sale as queued rather than sending it to the server immediately.
- Shows an offline banner at the top of the Register screen: "⚡ Offline — cash sales queued (N)", where N is the number of sales waiting to sync.
If a discount, comp, or order total was above your shop's approval cap and no PIN was entered, it's still recorded — it just syncs already flagged for owner review later, exactly as it would if you'd been online.
3. Automatic Reconnection & Syncing
The app checks for connectivity every 30 seconds while offline. As soon as a connection is detected:
- Every queued sale is sent to the server automatically — no action needed from you.
- A banner reads "↑ Syncing N queued orders…" while this happens.
- Your session totals and cash summary refresh once syncing completes.
If a PIN approval token had expired by the time it synced (tokens are short-lived), it's simply treated as if no approval was given and falls back to flagged review — it never blocks the sale from syncing.
4. Signing Out With Unsynced Sales
You can't sign out (or delete your account) while cash sales are still queued and unsynced — this protects that revenue data from being lost or, worse, attributed to whichever vendor logs into the device next. If you try, you'll see an "Unsynced Sales" alert asking you to reconnect and open the Register screen so the pending sales can sync first.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I have unsynced sales?
The offline or syncing banner at the top of the Register screen shows the count. If you're online and see no banner, everything has synced.
What if the app is closed while sales are queued?
Queued sales are saved to the device, not lost when the app closes — they'll sync the next time you open the app with a connection.
