Sold-Out Flagging During Market Sessions

Instantly hide a product from the checkout grid when you physically run out — without touching any stock or inventory numbers.

1. Marking a Product Sold Out at the Register

During an open session, long-press a product tile on the register grid:

  • For a product that tracks inventory, you'll get the option Mark as Sold Out (or Disable for This Session).
  • For a product with Track Inventory turned off (services, unlimited items), only Disable for This Session is offered, since "sold out" doesn't apply to something with no quantity.

Tapping Mark as Sold Out immediately dims that tile and labels it Sold Out, and it can no longer be tapped into the cart. Long-press it again and choose Clear Sold Out to bring it back.

This flag is scoped to the current session only — it resets automatically the next time you open a new session, so you don't have to remember to un-flag something days later.

2. How This Differs From Inventory-Based Sold-Out

Sold-out status can also happen automatically from quantities:

  • If a product's master stock (Config > Inventory) or its session quantity (Manage Inventory) reaches exactly 0, it's marked sold out the normal way — tied to real numbers, and it clears only once you add more stock.
  • The long-press Mark as Sold Out described above is a manual, numbers-untouched override for exactly the opposite reason: you physically sold your last one but haven't gotten around to updating quantities yet (or the product doesn't track inventory at all). It's a fast way to pull an item off the register mid-rush without opening the Inventory screen.

Either path results in the same dimmed, unselectable tile at checkout — the difference is only in what triggered it and whether it touches your stock counts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does marking something sold out affect my inventory counts?

No — the long-press flag described here is purely visual/session-scoped and never changes stock_quantity or session quantities. Use Config > Inventory or Manage Inventory if you actually want to update counts.

Does this carry over to my next market session?

No — sold-out and disabled flags set this way are cleared automatically whenever a new session opens.

What's "Disable for This Session" versus "Mark as Sold Out"?

Disable for This Session hides a product from the register entirely for the rest of the session (used for products that don't track inventory, where "sold out" doesn't apply). Mark as Sold Out dims the tile with a "Sold Out" label and can be cleared at any time during the same session.
