Managing Vendor Plan Tiers & Seat Limits
Overview of what each plan includes, how to add seats to a Team plan, and how to change or cancel your subscription.
1. The Five Plans
| Plan | Price | Users | Products | Card rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Freemium | Free | 1 | 10 | 3.0% + $0.15 |
| Lite | $9.99/mo | 1 | 10 | 3.0% + $0.15 |
| Premium | $24.99/mo | 1 | Unlimited | 2.8% + $0.10 |
| Team | $44.99/mo | 5 (expandable, see below) | Unlimited | 2.8% + $0.10 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Unlimited | Unlimited | Custom, set per vendor |
Paid plans (Lite, Premium, Team, Enterprise) include a 30-day free trial and don't require a card up front. Team-and-up features — like team management, session leaderboards, and Hot Sellers reporting — are gated to those plans; Freemium, Lite, and Premium are single-user accounts.
Freemium accepts cash, manual card entry, and 5 Tap to Pay sales per month at no added fee (see "Tap to Pay on the Freemium Plan"). Lite, Premium, Team, and Enterprise include unlimited Tap to Pay, which carries an additional itemized $0.15/transaction fee on those plans (see "Understanding Card & Platform Fee Breakdowns" for Enterprise's separate fee-itemization behavior). Lite does not include a Stripe M2 reader connection or Hot Sellers reporting — both start at Premium.
2. Choosing a Plan During Onboarding
During initial setup, the Choose a Plan step lists all available plans with their price and feature list. Pick one and tap Start with {Plan} →. On iPhone/iPad this step is on portal.membrzs.com; on Android it's in the app's setup wizard. You can change your plan at any time afterward — this choice isn't permanent (see section 4).
3. Adding Seats with User Packs (Team Plan)
The Team plan's base 5 users can be expanded with user packs — each pack adds 5 more users for $20/mo, up to 2 packs (15 users total).
- Android app: Go to Config > Plan & Billing, and under "User Packs" pick 0, 1, or 2 packs, then tap Update.
- Web Portal — also the way iPhone/iPad vendors do it: Go to the Billing page — the "User Packs" section (shown only on the Team plan) works the same way.
15 users is the hard ceiling on the Team plan. If you need more, that's the Enterprise plan — see the FAQ below.
4. Changing Plans & Managing Billing
- iPhone / iPad: Config > Plan & Billing shows your current plan and past invoices (View Billing History →), and lets you Cancel Service. Plan changes and payment-method updates are done on the web portal — open portal.membrzs.com in a browser and go to Billing.
- Android app: Config > Plan & Billing shows your current plan; tap Change Plan to pick a different one, or Update Card / Add Card to manage your payment method. View Billing History → shows past invoices.
- Web Portal: The Billing page shows the same current-plan status and lets you select a different plan, which redirects to Stripe checkout.
Downgrading to Freemium or Lite (or canceling service entirely) archives any products over that plan's 10-product limit and removes access for any non-owner users — all of your data is preserved, and you'll see a confirmation summarizing exactly what will change before it happens. Moving back up to a Team plan restores any team members who were previously deactivated this way.
To fully cancel a paid subscription, use Cancel Service on the Plan & Billing screen in the app (any platform) or on the web portal's Billing page — this moves your account to Freemium immediately.
5. Trial Endings, Failed Payments & Automatic Downgrades
Paid plans start with a 30-day free trial and don't require a card up front. Here's what happens at the boundaries.
Your trial ends and you never added a card
Your paid subscription doesn't start, and you're not charged. You keep paid features for a short grace period (about two weeks) so you have time to add a payment method. Add one from the web portal's Billing page (or Update Card / Add Card in the Android app) any time before that window closes and your plan continues without interruption. If the window passes with no card on file, the account moves to Freemium automatically.
A recurring payment fails
We retry the charge over roughly the next two to three weeks and email the account Owner each time an attempt fails, with a link to update the card. Update your payment method from the portal's Billing page and the next retry collects the balance. If we still can't collect after the retry period, the paid subscription is cancelled and the account moves to Freemium.
What "moving to Freemium" does
However it happens — you cancel, a trial lapses, or a payment can't be collected — the effect is the same and is never destructive:
- Products above Freemium's 10-product limit are archived (not deleted).
- Non-owner team members are deactivated (Freemium is a single-user plan).
- All of your data — orders, history, reports, settings, products, team records — is kept.
- Resubscribing to a paid plan restores product access and reactivates previously removed team members.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my card processing rate change with my plan?
Yes. Freemium and Lite are both 3.0% + $0.15 per card transaction; Premium and Team are both 2.8% + $0.10; Enterprise rates are set per vendor. Tap to Pay transactions on Lite, Premium, and Team also carry an additional $0.15 Tap to Pay fee.
What's the difference between Lite and Premium?
Lite adds unlimited Tap to Pay on top of Freemium's 5-per-month allowance, plus the same 10-product limit — but stays single-user, keeps the same 3.0% + $0.15 rate, and doesn't include a Stripe M2 reader connection or Hot Sellers reporting. Premium adds the lower 2.8% + $0.10 rate, unlimited products, Stripe M2 support, and Hot Sellers.
Who can change the plan or billing settings?
Only the account Owner — Plan & Billing is an owner-only row in Config.
If my trial ends without a card, do I lose my data?
No. You're not charged, and nothing is deleted. The account moves to Freemium after a short grace period; products over the 10-product limit are archived and non-owner logins are disabled, but everything is preserved and restored if you resubscribe.
My card failed — how long do I have to fix it?
About two to three weeks. We retry the charge on a schedule during that window and email the Owner each time an attempt fails. Update the card on the portal's Billing page and the next retry collects payment. After the retry period, an uncollected subscription is cancelled and the account moves to Freemium.
Can I get back on my paid plan after being downgraded for non-payment?
Yes. Resubscribe any time from the Billing page or the app's Plan & Billing screen. Your archived products and previously removed team members are restored.
I'm on the Team plan and need more than 15 users. What are my options?
15 is the ceiling on Team (5 base users plus 2 user packs of 5). To go beyond that, move to the Enterprise plan, which has no seat limit and pricing set per vendor. Reach out through the Contact page (or your Membrzs representative, if you have one) and we'll set it up — your products, team, history, and settings carry over.
