Recording Mid-Session Cash Drops
A Cash Drop records cash added to an active drawer — most often to replenish small bills for making change — so the session's expected balance stays accurate.
1. Recording a Cash Drop
- On the POS screen, tap the session menu pill (···).
- Tap 💰 Cash Drop.
- In the Cash Drop dialog ("Add cash to the drawer"), enter:
- Amount ($) — required, must be greater than $0.
- Reason (optional) — free text, e.g. "Change replenishment."
- Tap Record.
The drop is logged immediately and reflected in the session's cash math — it adds to the Expected in drawer figure shown in the session menu and in the Close Session / Close My Drawer reconciliation breakdown ("+ Cash drops").
2. Where Drops Show Up Later
- Session menu (···): the live "Cash in drawer" balance already accounts for any drops recorded so far.
- Close Session / Close My Drawer: the reconciliation breakdown lists a "+ Cash drops" line (with a count of how many drops were recorded) between "− Cash pulls" and "Expected in drawer."
- Emailed session report: if you send a session report on close, drops appear the same way in the Cash Drawer section of that email.
In Per Seller cash drawer mode, a drop is recorded against the drawer of whoever records it — it only affects that seller's own expected balance, not the whole team's.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit or delete a cash drop after recording it? No — there's no edit/delete flow. Use the Reason field to document it clearly, since it's a permanent part of that session's cash record.
Should I use a Cash Drop or reopen the session with more opening cash? Use a Cash Drop — opening cash is only set once, when the session (or your individual drawer, in Per Seller mode) is opened. Any cash added afterward should go through a Cash Drop so the reconciliation math stays accurate.
